Classic Rock Magazine has put the latest Deep Purple DVD denomninado "History, Hits & Highlights '68-'76" in the seventh spot in their list of Top 20 Music DVDs and Blu-rays of 2009. A good place, no doubt. And it had to be because this DVD has the great virtue of showing for the first time a clip on video (although very small) of one of the three legendary concerts of Deep Purple made in Japan in 1972 that were compiled in the formidable "Made In Japan "(for many, myself included, the best live album in rock history).
Few seconds video (90 only) that have been rescued and published in the DVD "History, Hits & Highlights '68-'76", but for every fan Purple is gold-plated jewelry. This is nothing less than video recording of Highway Star by one of the concerts of the "Made In Japan"!
The Highway Star video correspond to the concert of August 17, 1972 in Tokyo. Sure, the CD "Made In Japan" we all know is entered the Highway Star concert the day before, ie August 16 in Osaka, but the video as part of the last three days allowed to record the magic best live album in rock history.
Most purple gem can get, for now!
