Metallica's drummer, a great fan of the band, offered to be the battery of a possible meeting the classical training.
This is stated in an interview with Classic Rock magazine, which in its issue number 128 offers a special feature of Deep Purple 20 pages. They also highlights a possible meeting of the third formation of the band, a style as they have done a few dates "Heaven & Hell." In this band would not be Ian Paice, so Ulrich, Purple confessed aficionado, has been postulated as a possible substitute.
